Earth Balance is awesome, you can find this almost everywhere now. I've baked with it, put it on toast and its better than butter.

Becel now also make a vegan margarine. It says vegan right on the lid.

I just want to note that not all Becel is vegan and you do have to see vegan on the becel package.

Becel Vegan is the best one I have tried, because it's like regular margarine. It is much softer than Earth Balance while cold out of the fridge, so it spreads much easier. I think it has a better taste and consistency overall. Plus it is much cheaper.

I always use Pure, which is a soya-based spread. It's fine both for spreading and for baking. In fact, I use it for nearly all my home-baked cakes, muffins, quick breads, etc.

However, if you are asking for a recommendation for a particular brand, you need to tell us what part of the world you are in, as not all brands are available in all countries or regions.

If anyone is interested, here is the ingredient list for the Pure margarine I mentioned earlier (actually, it doesn't say "margarine" on the label, only Pure Soya Spread):

Soya Oil (45%),Water ,Vegetable Oils ,Salt (0.75%) ,Emulsifier (Mono and Diglycerides of Vegetable Fatty Acids) ,Vitamin E ,Natural Flavouring ,Vitamin A ,Colour (Natural Carotenes) ,Vitamin D2 ,Vitamin B12

Allergy Information: Free From: Gluten, Dairy Other Information: Additives: Free From Additives Additives: Free From Genetically Modified Ingredients

It also has a Vegan symbol on the label.

Hope this is of interest.

Where do you get Pure? Is it in Vancouver, BC?

I don't live in BC, and only rarely visit (more's the pity). So I don't know if Pure is available there. Why do you ask specifically about BC?

Because we live in BC. Mikl, which city (or country) do you buy Pure in? I've never heard of it before.

Beware - I thought Fleischman's was vegan but apparently the Vitamin D is from animal source/s!
